Resize, convert and save a competition-ready image using Adobe Photoshop CC.

Revised September 2024
Required specification

Competition image requirements

  • Fit the complete image within 1600 pixels wide × 1200 pixels high, including portrait images.
  • Save as a high-quality JPEG.
  • Use the sRGB colour space.

Before resizing

Finish the image and save it as a TIFF, PSD or JPEG. The steps differ for landscape and portrait orientations.

Landscape image

  1. Open the finished image in Photoshop CC.
  2. Choose Image → Image Size, set Width units to pixels and enter 1600. The height updates proportionally.
  3. If the resulting height is more than 1200 pixels, close without saving and follow the portrait method instead.
  4. Choose Edit → Convert to Profile. Under Destination Space, Profile should be sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
  5. Select OK.
  6. Choose File → Save As, select or create a folder and choose JPEG as the file type. If only JPEG 2000 is offered, close the dialog and choose File → Save a Copy instead. Give the file a meaningful name.

Portrait image

  1. Open the finished image in Photoshop CC.
  2. Choose Image → Image Size, set Height units to pixels and enter 1200. The width updates proportionally.
  3. Choose Edit → Convert to Profile. Under Destination Space, Profile should be sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
  4. Select OK.
  5. Choose File → Save As, select or create a folder and choose JPEG as the file type. If only JPEG 2000 is offered, close the dialog and choose File → Save a Copy instead. Give the file a meaningful name.
