PhotoEntry instructions

Set up your account, recover a forgotten password and practise uploading a competition image.

PhotoEntry overview

The Club uses the web-based PhotoEntry service for competition and exhibition submissions.

  • You need a PhotoEntry login. New members, or anyone who has forgotten their user ID, should email the Internal Competition Secretary at wimborneccintcompsec@gmail.com. If you do not receive a reply within a couple of days, contact the Membership Secretary.
  • Your user ID follows the format wcc-[first name][member number], for example wcc-bert99.
  • PhotoEntry emails new users a link to complete registration and set a password. Check your spam or junk folder if it does not arrive.
  • Before uploading, check the competition rules and prepare the image to the correct size and colour space.

Recover a forgotten password

  1. Open PhotoEntry and select Forgotten Password at the top left.
  2. Enter your user ID, then select Generate Reset Link.
  3. Use the email sent to your registered address to set a new password. Check spam or junk if it does not arrive.
  4. If no email arrives, ask the Internal Competition Secretary to check which email address is registered. Select Reset Login to return to the login page.

Complete your first login

  1. Open the registration email from PhotoEntry. Check your spam or junk folder if it is missing.
  2. Select Click here to set password in the email.
  3. Enter a memorable password and select Set Password.
  4. On the login page, consider bookmarking the address and selecting Remember Userid on this computer. Enter your details and select Login.
  5. You can log out from the top right. Open the menu beside your user ID to change your password. Under Show detail you can add photographic distinctions; leave the other fields at their defaults.

Practise with a test upload

After your first login, use the test competition before uploading to a live competition.

  1. Log in and select Test Competition Group.
  2. Select Test Comp. Review the image criteria shown on the competition page.
  3. Select Add New Entry. Enter the title that should be displayed when the image is projected. Entry Reference is optional and is for your own use. Select Add This Entry.
  4. Select Choose JPEG, then choose the image from your device. PhotoEntry creates the competition filename automatically, but it rejects files wider than 1600 pixels or higher than 1200 pixels.
  5. After the chosen filename appears, select Upload Image and wait for confirmation.
  6. Use the edit icon to change a title or the bin icon to remove the wrong image. Select Add New Entry to upload another. The test competition accepts up to five images; normal competitions usually accept two.
  7. If an image is rejected, read the reason, resize or correct it, and upload it again. The entry remains in place, so you do not need to start over.
  8. Experiment until you are comfortable with the process, then log out. You are ready to upload to an active competition.
