Prepare a PDI in Lightroom

Export a correctly sized competition image from Lightroom Classic or Lightroom desktop/cloud.

Required specification

Competition image requirements

Fit the complete image within 1600 pixels wide × 1200 pixels high, including portrait images.
Save as a high-quality JPEG.
Use the sRGB colour space.

Finish your image in the Develop module. Lightroom Classic creates a new exported file and does not overwrite the original.

Select the finished image in Library or Develop, then choose File → Export.
Set Export To to Hard Drive and choose the destination under Export Location.
Under File Settings choose JPEG, Quality 90–100 and Colour Space sRGB. Do not use HDR Output for normal competition JPEGs.
Under Image Sizing, tick Resize To Fit, choose Width & Height, enter W 1600 and H 1200, and set units to pixels. Leave Don't Enlarge ticked unless you have been asked to enlarge small images.
Output Sharpening is optional. Sharpen For: Screen and Amount: Standard is usually suitable for PDIs.
Select Export, then check that the JPEG is no wider than 1600 pixels and no higher than 1200 pixels.

Use Custom Settings so you can control the exported dimensions.

Select the finished image, select the Share icon and choose Custom Settings. You can also use File → Export or Shift+E.
Set File Type to JPG, Quality to 90–100 and Colour Space to sRGB under More Options.
For a landscape-shaped image, set Dimensions to Custom, the long edge to 1600 pixels and, where shown, the short edge to 1200 pixels.
For a portrait-shaped image, set Dimensions to Custom and the long edge to 1200 pixels. The shorter edge is calculated automatically.
If an unusually tall landscape exports at more than 1200 pixels high, repeat the export using the portrait instruction and a 1200-pixel long edge.
Select Export Photo, choose a destination and check the exported JPEG dimensions before submitting.
