Prepare a PDI in Photoshop Elements 2026
Convert, resize and save a competition-ready image using Photoshop Elements 2026.
Competition image requirements
- Fit the complete image within 1600 pixels wide × 1200 pixels high, including portrait images.
- Save as a high-quality JPEG.
- Use the sRGB colour space.
Before resizing
Finish the image in your preferred software and save it as a TIFF, PSD or JPEG. Start from a copy. The steps differ for landscape and portrait orientations.
Landscape image
- If the image has layers, flatten it from the Layers menu. Check that it is in 8 Bits/Channel; if necessary choose Image → Mode → 8 Bits/Channel.
- Choose Image → Mode → Convert Colour Profile and select sRGB Profile.
- Choose Image → Resize → Image Size. Under Pixel Dimensions, set Width to 1600. Keep Constrain Proportions ticked.
- If the resulting height is more than 1200 pixels, close without saving and follow the portrait method instead.
- Choose File → Save As, select or create a folder and choose JPEG as the file type.
- Give the file a meaningful name and select Save.
Portrait image
- If the image has layers, flatten it from the Layers menu. Check that it is in 8 Bits/Channel; if necessary choose Image → Mode → 8 Bits/Channel.
- Choose Image → Mode → Convert Colour Profile and select sRGB Profile.
- Choose Image → Resize → Image Size. Under Pixel Dimensions, set Height to 1200. Keep Constrain Proportions ticked.
- Choose File → Save As, select or create a folder and choose JPEG as the file type.
- Give the file a meaningful name and select Save.
